Stainless Steel 304 4B Brushed
Stainless Steel 304 4B Brushed is a premium surface finish on 304 stainless, produced using a finer abrasive grit than the standard No.4 brushed finish. The result is a tighter, more refined linear grain with higher reflectivity while retaining the anti-fingerprint and scratch-hiding benefits of a directional finish. It is specified for high-end architectural interiors, luxury commercial fit-outs, and premium signage where a finer aesthetic is required.
0.5mm, 0.8mm, 1.0mm, 1.2mm, 1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm, 3.0mm, 4.0mm, 5.0mm, 6.0mm
What is 4B Brushed Stainless Steel?
The 4B designation refers to a brushed stainless finish produced with a finer abrasive grit than the standard No.4 finish, typically using 180–240 grit belts. This creates a tighter, finer linear grain pattern that is semi-reflective — noticeably more polished in appearance than No.4, but still directional and non-mirror. It sits between the standard brushed finish and a mirror (No.8) finish in the stainless surface finish hierarchy.
Like all 304 stainless, the base alloy provides excellent general corrosion resistance suitable for interior architectural use, commercial kitchens, and light exterior use in non-marine environments. The 4B finish is in high demand for luxury hotel interiors, premium retail fit-outs, high-end residential joinery, and upscale commercial buildings where standard brushed looks too coarse.
Why Laser Cut 304 4B Brushed?
Fibre laser cutting with nitrogen assist preserves the quality of the 4B finish. The clean, oxide-free cut edges can be blended to match the brushed surface after cutting if visible edges are a design consideration. Laser cutting precision is essential for decorative panels, custom lettering, and architectural feature elements where tight tolerances are non-negotiable.
Available Thicknesses
304 4B Brushed stainless is available in: 0.5mm, 0.8mm, 1.0mm, 1.2mm, 1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm, 3.0mm, 4.0mm, 5.0mm, and 6.0mm. Maximum sheet size 3000mm × 1500mm.
Tolerances and Edge Quality
Cut tolerances are ±0.1mm to ±0.15mm. Nitrogen-assisted cutting produces minimal heat tint and clean edges suitable for architectural applications. For premium installations, edge polishing to match the 4B grain is recommended for visible edges.
Common Applications
- Luxury hotel lobby cladding and feature walls
- Premium retail and hospitality fit-out panels
- High-end residential kitchen and bathroom components
- Architectural signage and wayfinding
- Elevator cab interiors
- Premium balustrade panels and handrails
- Display and exhibition fittings
Handling and Surface Protection
4B finish sheet is supplied with PVC protective film. Keep film intact through all fabrication stages. The finer surface finish is more susceptible to visible scratching than No.4 — use dedicated stainless handling tools and avoid contact with ferrous materials.
File Preparation Tips
Submit DXF or DWG with all paths closed and on a single layer. Specify grain direction in order notes if required. For decorative panels, include orientation markings in your drawing file to avoid ambiguity.
